IR / ME training

 

1. Training of the PPL(A) license holder for IR/ME.

Prerequisites:

• PPL (A) license; with valid MEP(L) qualification;

• VFR Night flights qualification;

• Valid class 1 or 2 aviation-medical certificate (class 2 certificate must contain information that there are no contraindications for instrument flights);

• At least 50 flight hours of navigation flights on airplanes or helicopters, with at least 10 hours on airplanes;

• Confirmation of English proficiency prior to the start of Module 2 or passing the English language proficiency test; confirmed by a person with min. ICAO lev.4;

• Certificate / report of passed exams at CAA with ATPL(A) / IR(A);

Training program:

• Aeroplane – Total duration of the program: 15h

• Simulator – Total program time: 40h

• A total of 55h

 

2. Training of the holder of a CPL(A) license for IR / ME.

Prerequisites:

• CPL (A) license with valid MEP (L) qualification;

• Valid class 1 aviation-medical certificate;

• Confirmation of the English language proficiency before the start of Module 2 or a positive result of the English language proficiency test, 2 confirmed by a person with min. ICAO lev.4;

• Certificate / report of passed exams at CAA with ATPL(A) / IR(A).

Training program:

• Aeroplane – Total duration of the program: 10h

• Simulator – Total program time: 35h

• 45h in total

 

 

3. Training for an IR/SE holder applying for an IR/ME.

Prerequisites:

• PPL (A) / CPL (A) license with valid MEP (L) qualification;

• VFR Night flights qualificaiton;

• Valid class 1 or 2 aviation-medical certificate (class 2 certificate must contain information that there are no contraindications for instrument flights);

• Certificate / report of passed exams at CAA with ATPL (A) / IR;

Training program:

• Aeroplane – Total duration of the program: 2h

• Simulator – Total program time: 3h

• A total of 5h

What else is worth knowing about the IR (A) SE/ME rating?

The IR SE and IR ME qualifications are not a subject of a VAT tax.

What skills can be obtained by completing the IR(A) SE / ME training?

Obtaining an instrument flights qualification has many advantages, apart from the most obvious benefit of being able to fly in weather conditions below VFR rules minima.

You will improve your communication skills

When flying high in the clouds, you have to rely on ATC to keep you safe, so effective radio communication is a key aspect of IFR flights. IFR flying requires understanding the controller’s instructions and reading them quickly and clearly. It may take some time to get used to IFR radio connections, but with a little practice you will become a more confident practitioner.

Fewer flights cancelled

In VFR flights, flying is limited to clear days. Again, an instrument flight qualification allows you to complete journeys that could otherwise be cancelled due to inclement weather.

There is no doubt that gaining instrument flight qualifications is a great way to improve your pilot skills. If you accidentally fly into the IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions), you’ll be able to use your skills to safely get out of a potentially dangerous situation.
